Dr. Ron Ross: Well thanks Jim, I think we’ve had a really good year at NIST. We, as you know over the past 10 years, worked developing all the standards and guidelines under the Federal Information Security Management Act.
JIm Flyzik: Right.
Dr. Ron Ross: This past year, we reached out to the private sector with the new Cybersecurity Framework, which is targeted at the critical infrastructure. And that framework was an important step forward because we collaborated with all of the critical infrastructure sectors; brought people around the table. And that framework emerged from all the ideas from all the different constituents that we were interfacing with over the past year. It’s a very good framework; it brings together all the top level activities that folks need to focus on without being overly prescriptive. And, you know, most of our critical infrastructure in this country, 90%, is owned and operated by the private sector.
JIm Flyzik: Right.
Dr. Ron Ross: So that’s been a great step forward to try to bring this to the national front because these cyber problems we experience are not just federal, they go deep into our critical infrastructure, they affect our economic security, our national security. So that’s been a very large step forward and we are just glad we could do it in a collaborative way.
JIm Flyzik: Yeah - [00:01:07] [SOUND CUT]
